Strolling Around : Jakarta

There is always a first time for everything in life.
The first time you grab a pen and make your first scratch.
The first time you push a button on an elevator.
The first time you eat a raw sushi.
This post will eventually get there, my first time spending time away from home.

But first, talking about the first, last Saturday me and two of my fellas; Asta and Dina, have just visited the first Dunkin Donut store in Indonesia, di Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jakarta. My friend is a die hard fan of DD so it is super necessary to drop by there only to know how was it look like to enjoy your donut in 80's era.

My impression about the store was; oh so American. If you're a fan of The Perks of Being A Wallflower, the ambience is quiet looking like Kings.,

The kind of friends that I keep : they let me take pictures of our table

I am hanging out with millenials who have life on the phone.

She does, too,
Di area luar, masih berasa banget kesan jadul nya. Kebetulan karena kami dateng di siang hari, keliatan aja bagian luar dibiarkan terbuka tanpa tambahan cahaya lampu, I feel like I am watching Indonesian soap opera in 90's era. But the thing that a bit different for me is, hampir 80% pengunjung adalah bapak-bapak (I guess above 40 yo) yang datangnya bergerombol gitu, sekadar nyantai-nyantai, well I rarely see that in a typical donut cafe.

I don't have to talk much about the menu because, who doesn't love classic DDs? And who's ordering a dine in menu without having dat winning chocolate? (Well actually we only ordered one cup for three lol).

After DD, we decided to walk about 2 kilometers to take a peak on an ice cream pioneer in Jakarta, Ragusa Eskrim Italia. But I this the first time I saw people make a long line, we can see it from outside of the store, to eat ice cream.

Ragusa ini berdiri sejak 1932, I imagined that time, dimana Indonesia belom merdeka, only fancy people eat there. Menu nya juga klasik, nggak neko-neko dengan banyak pilihan topping atau varian rasa, simplicity in a very best way. I actually thought that Italian Ice Crem texture must be like gelatto, but turns out Ragusa is more like milk ice cream and it taste geeewd.

Di toko eskrim lawas kayak gini, eskrim potong is always my favorite. Potongan ice cream nya lumayan gede since it cost Rp 30.000, a bit pricey kalau dibandingin sama sundae mekdi toko eskrim Tentrem yang sama-sama lawas juga, di Solo. But it is super worth it. Seeing people came here with a biq squad of family on weekend, pasti tempat ini punya nilai historikal buat orang-orang tertentu. And I am glad Asta arranged our pioneer-cafes visits that day.

Anyway, that was my first weekend spending internship time here in Jakarta.
Well actually it's not about where I am now. But this is pretty important for me because this is the first time I am stepping outside of my house, not only for a week or two, but (according to my internship plan timeline) I will be here for almost 3 months.
I am still adjusting, not only with the real working environment, but also with getting most of things done on my own. I am a person with insecurity issue, sometimes too many "how if" popped up in my head, and I think this is a good remedy. Belive me, to order an online ojek takes me super many times to think karena simply it's hard for me to believe people I didn't know. Then I have to take it to get to many places here, right? So yes this is a teraphy.

Ada salah satu pertanyaan rekruitmen organisasi aku, yang suka aku tanyain ke interviewee, "When was the last time you did something for the first time?". Kenapa? Karena seringkali aku nemuin muka-muka mereka bingung mikir, minta diulang pertanyaannya, as if the first time is must be a big step to do something. Well, indeed, but there's more... Ada jawaban cepat yang tipikal, "This is my first time doing an interview in English.". First time is a kind of big thing itself, in any thing.

I remember finding my "why"only a couple weeks before the internship starts (I might will tell about internship parts in another post *finger crossed*). Why I have to step out. Why I have to move for a while, it's actually me and myself kind of thing. It's no more about "I know that company is a lot more worth it than any other company here", or "I need to see the real operation in a big cooperation". I think it's about a lesson to appreciate the time that I spend in college.

I will leave college in, at least, one more year. I am no more a sophomore when I got back in town. Senior's bell ringing by the time I step on my home land. And of course I do not want to be that same girl. If you are one of my classmates you must have known that I always came nearly before the door closed, or worse. Bukannya pengen bikin perkuliahan tahun terakhir ini jadi nyeremin, but the fact is I need to get rid of those males habits.

And this living outside the house theraphy will help me. To appreciate thing like having a cup of Energen before I go to office, or keep my desk tidy because that's the way I want to see it when I got back. I think this will lead me to many more first-time adventures.

Luckily (or not) Saturday's sun was high padahal hari-hari sebelumnya selalu hujan. Thank God for the light effect lol.
